Jiang was born in Shandong province, but moved to Taiyuan City in Shanxi province. His elder brother, Jiang Mingxiu, is also a go player (currently 7-Dan) and toured Japan in 1978, scoring 3-4, and in 1982, scoring 6-1. Jiang Zhujiu toured Japan in 1980, when he scored 6-1, and in 1982, when he scored 7-0.

Jujo is the current American Master's Champion and thus represented the United States this year in the World Invitational LG Cup, where he reached the quarter-finals.
