The American
Professional Go Association

In July of 1996, the world's fifth professional go association was founded, The American Professional Go Association (APGA).

In recognition of the fact that many of our members were born and learned go before they moved to America, the American Professional Go Association would like to express its appreciation for the support these players recieved from the nations of China, Japan, Korea, and their professional go associations: the China Weichi Association, the Nihon Ki-in, and the Hankuk Kiwon. We would also like to thank the American Go Association for their encouragement and support.

We expect that the formation of the American Professional Go Association will help to raise the level of interest in go world-wide, and to bring an awareness of this wonderful game to millions of Americans.
